Developed within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, this badge equips learners with the skills necessary to prevent the spread of infection or contamination, create and maintain a sterile environment, and assist in the cleaning and decontamination of rooms in between surgical or medical procedures. Earners will gain foundational knowledge and techniques needed to understand aseptic techniques and begin a career as an orderly attendant across various healthcare settings.

Earning Criteria

Successful completion of assessments addressing the learner's understanding of Aseptic Technique and Decontamination competencies.

Successful completion of a controlled-simulated setting, indicating knowledge of routine handwashing, surgical handwashing, sterile donning of gloves and gown, and sterile field setup.

Successful completion of a reflection paper where learners demonstrate how the competencies gained can be utilized to further personal, professional and/or academic goals.
