The course is designed to support staff in Scottish public authorities who manage compliance with the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2003. This course looks in depth at the statutory requirements and the practicalities of meeting them. The court is suitable for FOI leads and their assistants, Information Governance managers and officers, and Internal Review officers.

Earning Criteria

The course includes three days of training (five half-days online) covering the background to FOI legislation in Scotland. We will look at the mechanics of handling requests efficiently and appropriately, the management of proactive transparency, and the application of exemptions where necessary.
This badge is issued to candidates who have attended the Practitioner Certificate in Scottish Freedom of Information and do not submit a portfolio. Awarded instead with attendance certificate of 'Scottish Freedom of Information'.
