Empathy Allies - Race and Ethnicity

This badge will help participants create a more welcoming and inclusive environment in the classroom, on campus, and in the greater community for people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds. Participants analyze how culture shapes ideas, explore cultural histories and biases, link these to power dynamics, and develop conversational skills to engage on race and ethnicity. Each module integrates activities, discussions, and debriefs to build knowledge and skills in a collaborative environment.

Earning Criteria

Participants will have attended at least 3 of the 4 synchronous classes, with alternatives possible to make up the 4th. Participants will score at least 12 out of 16 with no singular score lower than 2 on the R.A.C.E. conversation rubric as scored by the fellow participants, demonstrating the ability to engage using this method with others with whom they disagree.
