Maryland Accelerates High-Leverage Practices
Designed for novice teachers to demonstrate competencies in High Leverage Practices by 1) identifying and evaluating how high leverage practices utilized within the classroom promote access to the curriculum; 2) observing and evaluating the impact of the high leverage practices of eliciting and interpreting individual student’s thinking and diagnosing patterns in student thinking; and 3) creating, delivering, and reflecting on an action plan that incorporates the core practices.

Standards
High-leverage practices are the fundamentals of teaching. These practices are used constantly and are critical to helping students learn important content. The high-leverage practices are also central to supporting students’ social and emotional development. These high-leverage practices are used across subject areas, grade levels, and contexts.
InTASC Core Teaching Standards outline what teachers should know and be able to do to ensure every PK-12 student reaches the goal of being ready to enter college or the workforce. This “common core” outlines the principles and foundations of teaching practice that cut across all subject areas and grade levels and that all teachers share.
