Digital Photography and Workflows Excellence

This micro-credential is structured to prepare students to learn digital workflows using Adobe® Camera RAW, Adobe® Bridge and Photoshop software. In addition, students learn how to use advanced features of DSLR cameras, studio lighting equipment, learn copyright basics and how to build studio set arrangements. Students learn how to create display ads for commercial advertising and learn how to prepare photos for professional photo exhibitions. A minimum grade of “A-” is required in each course.

Demonstrate an understanding of key photographic terms and camera settings.
Demonstrate an understanding of how to visually create a photo presentation utilizing digital camera techniques and photographic digital processes to convey a photo essay or theme–based story.
Identify and memorize keyboard shortcuts, toolbox tools, PSD formats, DNG, RAW, TIFF, EPS, JPEG, GIFF and PNG file formats. Identify, monitor, image and print resolution, color models, tonal range and color management tools.
Demonstrate an understanding how to use layers, masks, channels, clipping paths, type styles, filters, special effects and selection tools. Understand how to prepare files, flatten images for custom digital workflows for print, photography and web media.
Demonstrate an understanding of key photographic lighting terminology to include: light waves, polarized light, color, incidence, reflective light, brightness, intensity, contrast, shadow and composition.
Demonstrate an understanding of lighting tools to include: continuous flash, modeling lights, monolights, snoots, light modifiers, umbrellas, grids, barn doors, gels, reflectance, front lighting, backlighting, table top sets and side lighting.
Demonstrate an understanding of digital workflows of importing photo images, exporting photos, DNG files, photo libraries and color correction used for effective business product photography.
Demonstrate an understanding of how to design with photographic images and post processing techniques using Adobe® CC software to tell a photographic story.
