The course objective is to provide an introduction to the theories and principles of public speaking. Topics include the history, models, and modes (persuasive, informative, and special occasion) of public speaking. Students will be introduced to the steps (development, organization, and delivery) necessary to create a speech and will apply these steps when presenting speeches to peers. Students will format, edit, and deliver speeches.
