The microcredential 'Foundations in Philanthropy' was developed by Genazzano Institute in partnership with The Sisterhood of St Vincent's Foundation. Badge Earners participate in a range of learning experiences to develop an understanding of the concept of 'giving' and the variety of ways that people can contribute time, skills, goods and funds to make a meaningful impact for others. A practical project builds skills and knowledge in developing awareness and fundraising campaigns.

Earning Criteria

Students participate in a range of educational presentations led by the St Vincent's Foundation and The Sisterhood of St Vincent's. The learning covers the need for support by 'giving' through the lens of the hospital, including: history of the hospital; healthcare and research and the work of St Vincent's foundation. 'The Sisterhood' is highlighted as an example of the founder's philanthropic efforts to promote women in health and science and to support the hospital in a meaningful way

Students learn about how people use events and campaigns to promote donations, awareness, volunteering and sharing of expertise. The learning provides examples of a range of different campaigns and highlights key elements of putting together a successful philanthropic campaign or event.

Students work in groups to design a philanthropic campaign or event using key criteria. Students produce suitable marketing material to promote the event.

Student work is submitted in a digital media format and assessed according to criteria. Students complete a quiz and reflection on learning & skill development to earn the microcredential.
