Music composition comprises many aspects and comes in many forms, styles and genres. Yet, no matter what form it may be in, it is ultimately about organizing sound. This Microcredential aims to guide students through a variety of approaches to composition with sequencing software. Students will be encouraged to compose for soundtracks that could accompany film, multi-media productions and also live theatre performances.

Earning Criteria

• This comprehensive course will provide exposure to a wide variety of approaches to SEQUENCING, including aspects of multiple tracks, quantization, equalization, effects and compression. The classes will also develop skills in ORCHESTRATION & ARRANGEMENT.
• The development of skills demonstrated through works of composition in weekly classes is a key aspect of the course. Students will be required to write and submit sequenced pieces demonstrating the application techniques developed through the program.
• Students completing this program will gain professional experience through having their works contribute to a soundtrack for either a short film, as multi-media production or live theatre performance. Frameworks for composition tasks will be set in discussion the teacher.
