Genazzano's 'The EDGE' program aims to encourage students to get comfortable with the journey of embracing discomfort, and living on ‘the edge’. Throughout the year students will be pushed outside their comfort zones in an array of different environments. To successfully obtain their microcredential, students will be required to demonstrate skills of teamwork, leadership, confidence and resilience in addition to completing a reflection on how they developed the focus skill in each unit.

Earning Criteria

The EDGE ROCK CLIMBING. Focus Skill: Teamwork Students will be required to display teamwork in a variety of skills throughout each double lesson. Communication, encouragement and concentration will be vital in ensuring peers can support each other climbing. A willingness to work with a variety of classmates will be vital in successfully displaying this skill.

The EDGE SEPEP NETBALL. Focus Skill: Leadership. Students will take a leadership role in the development of the Netball program. Students will take control of their own learning experiences. Students will work together to fulfill a number of roles including, coach, umpire, team manager, scorer. Students will be required to display leadership and organization skills, fulfilling their role to enable their team to complete all tasks.

The EDGE GYMNASTICS. Focus Skill: Confidence. Throughout this unit students will participate in activities on a variety of Gymnastics apparatus. At the culmination of the unit students will be required to perform one new skill that they have learnt on an apparatus of their choice in front of their peers.

The EDGE WATER SAFETY. Focus Skill: Resilience. Throughout this unit students will perform a variety of water safety skills and activities. Some of these activities may challenge students, which is where the greatest learning occurs. Students will need to continue to work through all activities, attempting to complete all set tasks to the best of their ability, students are asked to continue to attempt skills even if at first they did not succeed.

Reflection: Students will be required to complete a reflection on each unit. The reflection will be completed on their Learning profile page. Students’ attendance may impact their ability to obtain their microcredential.
