Lighter-than-air Mechatronics Prototyping

Earners of the Biologically-inspired, Lighter-than-air, Instructional, Mechatronics Program (BLIMP) badge will have a fundamental understanding of introductory concepts related to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and advanced manufacturing through hands-on experience building flapping-wing lighter-than-air vehicles. They will learn basic concepts in mechanical systems, microcontrollers, computer vision, aircraft dynamics, and their integration to build a blimp.

Earning Criteria

Sessions consisting of lecture portion and hands on work session with additional workshops at the MIX for prototyping and manufacturing. The 7 week program will be a total of 16 hours.

The final session will be a "poster session" similar to a science fair where each team will have a display to showcase their design
