Earners have described the history of disability in western culture - including Australia - and identified some of the key contemporary global challenges of disability.

Earners have described and analysed some of the theoretical, philosophical, historical and ethical perspectives of disability that influence policy development and service delivery, not only in the disability sector, but also in other fields of enterprise such as education, employment, health and rehabilitation, housing, ageing and so on.

Earners have discussed, critically analysed and contributed to contemporary debates across a range of issues - including the implementation of the NDIS in Australia, together with inclusive education and fair employment - that have an impact on the lives of people with disabilities.

Earners have analysed the usefulness of adopting an interdisciplinary approach to understanding disability and the lives of people with disability, and apply their analysis to their professional practice.
