Certificants who earn this credential demonstrate the ability to observe, intervene, and evaluate within the scope of practice of a nursing assistant in helping patients and their families maintain optimal functioning and quality of life within the limits of the disease process and indicates a mastery of a defined body of knowledge.

Earning Criteria

Must have hospice and palliative nursing assistant practice of 500 hours in the most recent 12 months or 1,000 hours in the most recent 24 months under the supervision of a registered nurse in the United States prior to applying for the exam.

Achieve a passing score on the CHPNA® exam.
Standards
The CHPNA® program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing (ABSNC).
