Earning Criteria

Must be an employee of IBM
Volunteer an average of 6 hours / month for a minimum of 54 hours over 9 months or 2 semesters at one or more academic institutions as a recognized IBM leader and expert with faculty, researchers, and students.
Conduct activities on or off campus that contribute to the published goals of academic programs listed on the IBM Academic Ambassador home page in the areas of skills development and faculty/student awareness.
Introduce a minimum of 5 faculty to the IBM SkillsBuild Software Downloads OR Influence a minimum of 100 students to use the IBM SkillsBuild Software Downloads.
Complete 2 of the following activities or an activity approved by the Geo Lead: Participate in / mentor a minimum of 2 student projects; Present an overview of IBM university offerings, including the IBM SkillsBuild Software Downloads on campus or electronically; Actively lead/participate in Hackathon that includes tools from the IBM SkillsBuild Software Downloads; Give an average of 2 Guest Lectures per semester for a total of 4 per academic year.
Be recognized by the university or academic institution for leadership by either being invited to serve on an official Advisory Board, to conduct a minimum of 4 guest lectures, and/or serving as an Adjunct Faculty. Ensure that at least one guest lecture is added to the IBM University Guest Lectures catalog to be shared with universities and other IBM Academic Ambassadors
Share your expertise as a Mentor with a minimum of 3 peer IBM Academic Ambassadors to increase their individual effectiveness on campus. Mentees must demonstrate progress in at least 1 of the other 5 Badge Criteria areas during or after the mentoring process.
Assist the academic programs team by playing an active role assisting and participating in a strategic IBM collaboration with a university in a key strategic skills area. This strategic collaboration may or may not involve an official document of understanding, such as a MOU, but it must always be in support of the appropriate GUP Leader as designated by the Geo Lead.
