Earning Criteria

Knowledge of chord progressions in the context of performing notated music in the jazz idiom as well as embellishing the given harmony through improvisation and other extemporaneous performance techniques.
Ability to read traditional & non-traditional rhythmic & dynamic notation
Demonstrated comfort in visualizing & thinking in harmonies in both rehearsal and performance.
Thorough comprehension of the technical skills required in a jazz performance, including groove, comping, improvisation, reading, swing and other techniques common to the language of jazz.
Spontaneity in decisions of phrasing
Skilled in playing multifarious rhythms
