Science of Harmony in Counterpoint II
After the spring semester, the recipient of this badge demonstrates mastery of the science of harmony in counterpoint & conducts a harmonic analysis of 4-part chorales by J.S. Bach, modulations via pivot chord, secondary dominants & applied chords. They can identify & correctly use Neapolitan 6th, & German, French & Italian augmented 6th chords. This student can also compose & apply 16th-century counterpoint in two parts above or below the melody, in all 5 species, in all but the Locrian mode.

Standards
College/graduate age students can audition for the Independent Artist Mastery Program which helps cultivate and enhance skills with a performance focus. They study privately with renowned professors and attend a variety of relevant classes on musical topics. Students also can play in masterclasses and concerts during the year and at IIMF in Europe.
