IAAP Certified Professionals in Accessible Built Environments (CPABE) Level Two

Earners of the IAAP CPABE Level Two: Advanced have demonstrated, what accessible built environment professionals are expected to know with focus on one specific disability focused environment and a support of at least two specific disabilities. This certification defines what established accessible built environment profesionals are expected to know, illustrate, and deliver to promote accessible, safe, and usable buildings and public spaces based on the principles of Universal Design.

Earning Criteria

The candidates for CPABE Level Two: are expected to be established practitioners (5 – 10 years) as an accessibility professional or professional with a focus of Universal Design in their chosen field (architect, engineers, urban planner, etc).
Five to ten years of experience with a focus on accessibility as a design/building/public spaces professional (architect, engineers, urban planner, etc).
Participation in at least five (5) accessibility assessments other than housing, three examples must be submitted.
Pass a proctored closed book, 100-question, multiple-choice exam. The pass rate on the CPABE Level Two Exam is 65%.
Agree to uphold Code of Conduct and Ethics as an accessibility professional.
The CPABE Level Two is maintained across three years with ongoing professional development, sharing of knowledge, and leadership activities.
IAAP Professional Certifications belong to the individual who has earned and maintained their Professional Certification. IAAP Professional Certifications do not certify an individual's company, or organization's products or services.
