Earners of the Fire Fighter 1 designation are qualified to operate as a member of a team on the emergency scene using basic Fire Fighter skills. Under direction from a team leader, qualified Fire Fighter 1 candidates are able to recognize the need for hazardous materials operations and utilize firefighting equipment.
