McNair Scholar

McNair Scholar is issued in recognition of the earner's engagement in research activities under the mentorship of a full-time faculty for a year or more including the intensive summer research experience in the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program. Earners have developed an understanding of the intellectual and practical work of research parallel to their conceptual knowledge in their fields. Earners have also shown initiative and responsibility as undergraduate researchers.

Earning Criteria

The McNair Scholar acknowledges that earners have participated in a for-credit research internship course, AFR 310 and/or independent study courses.

Earners must have participated in required research training, have shown commitment to their research project by performing the work required, and have participated in presenting their research and writing a final research paper; as well as participating in collaborative research and graduate school preparation activities through the McNair Program.
