This individual has successfully completed the Electrical Safety Awareness course delivered by the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre of Excellence (AMTCE). This program is run in partnership with TECHNO TRAINING, Ireland’s leading provider of training for engineers, maintenance technicians, and contractors. This comprehensive course will heighten awareness of electrical hazards and provide a set of safe working practise and precautions that address risks for those working around LV systems.

The individual can explain the effects of electricity on the human body and describe the four Shock Factors.

The individual can evaluate the cause-and-effect relationship between voltage, current and resistance in series and parallel circuits.

The individual can use a multi-meter to measure voltage.

The individual can recognise and explain the types of Circuit Protection devices to include fuses, MCB’s and RCD’s and RCBO’s.

The individual can explain all the engineering controls in place to protect against contact with LIVE conductors.

The individual can competently and safely measure voltage in LIVE electrical circuits powered with DC and AC (single and 3-phase).

The individual can list all the procedural measures that should be taken to reduce risk of exposure to electrical hazards such as shock and Arc flash hazards.

The individual can perform risk assessments before opening Panels.

The individual can isolate power and verify that power is isolated.

The individual can explain how a range of real recorded accidents could have been avoided.

The individual can explain earthing systems to include TN_C and TN_S systems.

The individual can evaluate why and when LOTO is required.

The individual can understand employer and employee responsibilities under the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, Clause 86.
