Earning Criteria
-
The individual understands the relationship between components in industrial automation and has expanded their knowledge on the importance, benefits and energy sources involved in these systems exploring a specific assembly process to understand generic automated systems.
-
The individual understands the basic principles, laws and components used in pneumatic / electropneumatic systems, the types, operating principles and symbols for the different components used in industrial applications.
-
The individual understands the production, transport, distribution and use of electricity, components and control circuits and is familiar with different types of circuits and electrical applications, capable of understanding laws and relationships between electrical parameters. Completed theory of direct (DC) and alternating current (AC) with focus on the most common DC circuits (series, parallel) to AC, Induction and electromagnetism, understanding how circuits work and their applications.
-
The individual understands the components, tools and procedures used in connecting and wiring control panels and electrical facilities. Understands earthing, connectors, cable sizes and the different ways of connecting transformers.
-
The individual understands the operating principles for basic electrical machines such as direct current and alternate current motors, both single phase and three phase and the most typical applications for these motors.
-
The individual understands the operating principles of sensors and transducers used in industry. Starting with general applications, features and parameters of sensors, the different types of sensors, their application and symbols.
-
The individual understands the different types of Programmable Controllers (PLC), centred on the elements of PLC’s, introducing digital electronics and understands how a Programmable Controller works. Studies included its general structure, the PSU, CPU, Input/Outputs and general concepts of programming and applications for these controllers.
-
The individual understands Process Control systems. The different control types were analysed, focused on the different blocks making up a closed loop controller and introduction to multi-variable control systems.
-
The individual understands hydraulic systems used in automated industry. Covering the different components used in hydraulics, electro-hydraulics and proportional hydraulics, analysing their operating principles, applied physical laws and symbols.
-
The individual understands robotic systems and the most common tasks of Industrial Robots. Has the ability to distinguish between the different types of Industrial Robots and understands the history of Industrial Robots. Has explored, in greater depth, these systems’ security aspects, robot structure, programming and the most common industrial applications.
