The Basic Language badge is directly aligned with ACTFL's Can-Do Statements. Can-Do Statements describe what learners can do consistently over time. Learners will demonstrate what they "can-do" consistently in each mode and at each sub-level, in numerous situations throughout the learning process. To earn the Basic badge, based on the Can-Do Performance Indicators, learners must attain at least a Novice High that indicates learners understand isolated words/phrases.
