This course provides an in depth examination of beer styles, brewing techniques, common off flavors and draft system cleaning and maintenance. Each class places a strong emphasis on blind beers tastings to help strengthen student’s palate and sensory vocabulary, and prepares students to write the second level of the Cicerone Exam. This course is ideal for Cicerone Candidates as well as people who work at beer bars, breweries, distributors and home brewers looking to improve their craft.

Gain a deep and broad understanding of world beer styles, including qualitative and quantitative measurements, classic examples and historical significances

Correctly recognize and describe the sensory subtleties of various beer styles

Identify major off flavors, their causes and when they may or may not be appropriate in beer styles

Understand the maintenance on draft systems and their components for successful draft system operation

Prepare to pass the Certified Cicerone Exam
