Microscopy is the technical field of using microscopes to view objects and areas of objects that cannot be seen with the naked eye. To earn this badge, the student has demonstrated expertise in use of light microscopes and dissecting scopes. Including adjusting the illumination system and the imaging system to obtain optimal focus, contrast, and resolution of image details. The student demonstrated an understanding of the precautions to be used when handling and operating light microscopes.

Successfully passed written examination consisting of short answer questions with a grade of 93% or above.

Properly handled and set up the light microscope.

Properly prepared slides for microscopy.

Demonstrated familiarity with focusing and stage manipulation.

Able to find and focus one specimen in less than two (2) minutes.
