Cultural Competence
Issued by
Merrimack College
Cultural competence combines cultural knowledge, awareness, and social skills to communicate with individuals of various cultural backgrounds. Cultural competence is important to serving culturally diverse and highly vulnerable populations and maintaining a safe, peaceful, and legally compliant working environment. International travel prepares people to thrive in organizations that require a set of values, behaviors, and attitudes that empower them to work effectively cross-culturally.
