Participants of this badge will have successfully completed Merrimack College's Diversity Awareness Training. Participants will develop fundamental skills around communication, collaboration, and professionalism within diversity, equity, and inclusion. Participants can draw upon the skills to articulate a more conscious response to interpersonal relationship and diversity responsiveness. All skills learned will assist to build a more inclusive work environment for potential employers.

Earning Criteria

Complete four workshops. Workshop 1: Building a Foundation, with topics of Building Blocks of Dialogue, Social Identity Group Categories and Intersectionality. Workshop 2: Socialization, with topics of Socialization, Stereotype, Prejudice, Discrimination, Implicit Bias, Microagressions. Workshop 3: Power and Privilege, with topics of Power, Difference, Race/Ethnicity, Class, Privilege, Levels of Oppression. Workshop 4: Allyship and Activism.

Develop and enhance interpersonal and interpersonal communication. Participants will be able to adapt their communications skills to a more diverse population to assist in developing an inclusive work environment for employers

Attend at least one event through the Merrimack College Interdisciplinary Institute or a sponsored campus event that relates to the topics of diversity and inclusion. Participants will submit a reflection paper on their experiences of attending said event.

Collaborate in a series of team development exercises. Participants will work with fellow cohort members to foster new methods of working in diverse environments

Complete final assessment project. Participants will find solutions to solving systematic problems associated with a particular environment given to them. Participants will present a plan of action using and highlighting topics learned throughout the program.
