Earning Criteria

Successful completion of Fundamentals of Designing and Teaching Online Courses. Participants will investigate a variety of student-centered, inquiry based methodologies and learn how to best implement in the online environment. Students will experience both synchronous and asynchronous formats during this course to experience the best ways to facilitate each.

Successful completion of Engaging Students in Online Courses. This course will discuss best practices for effectively engaging students in an online course. A variety of tools will be covered that serve to increase communication, collaboration, and authentic learning in the online environment. This course focuses on techniques, analytics, and strategies to actively engage diverse learners recognizing the role that identity differences play in course engagement.

Successful completion of Universal Design and Accessibility in Online Education. This course will introduce participants to the principles and practices of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Through discussions, activities and assignments participants will learn to evaluate existing course materials against the UDL principles, articulate important educational features of Universal Design for Learning and implement UDL elements into their chosen fields of study.
