Elementary Descriptive and Inferential Statistics

Students can comprehend and complete analyses using simple descriptive statistical methods of both graphical and numerical nature. They have a foundational understanding of probability, including counting techniques and random variables. Students comprehend the use of and analyze data using the basic inferential statistics techniques: Estimation, Hypothesis Testing, Linear Regression, Goodness of Fit, and ANOVA. Students have been introduced to some basic non-parametric methods.

Earning a B- or better in Math 115: Basic Statistics. This 3 credit course is an introduction to the use of statistical methods with emphasis on practical applications. Descriptive statistics, introduction to probability, estimation of parameters, introduction to hypothesis testing, correlation, and linear regression.

Earning a B- or better in Math 116: Basic Statistics II. This 3 credit course introduces students to hypothesis testing, analysis of variance, correlation and regression analysis, nonparametric statistics.
