Rail Projects - Special Education Immersion Day
Issued by
Monash Tech School
Through a Metro Tunnel Education Program workshop, earners have gained an understanding of Victoria's rail infrastructure projects and participated in a unique innovation experience. Earners with support utilised technologies such as Augmented Reality, Ozobots and Virtual Reality to investigate how STEM is used in real-world logistics, engineering and construction. Earners have attended an immersion day at the Metro Tunnel HQ visitor centre, delivered in collaboration with Monash Tech School.
Earning Criteria
-
Using Technologies at Metro Tunnel HQ - Earners have participated in activities using technologies including Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Ozobots. Through Virtual Reality, earners have investigated the use of Tunnel Boring Machines in the engineering and construction industries. Earners have also used Ozobots in a collaborative activity where they have gained foundational knowledge around block coding techniques.
-
Unique Innovation Experience - Earners have participated in a tour of Metro Tunnel HQ. With guidance from the Metro Tunnel Education Program team, earners have gained knowledge of Victoria's rail infrastructure projects. Specifically, they have looked at how technologies such as Tunnel Boring Machines are used to efficiently build new train tunnels and how acoustic sheds are used to ensure liveability for residents whilst expanding Victoria's transport networks.
