Renewable Energies - Immersion Day - 2024

Through practical activities and an on-site visit to Holmesglen Institute's Renewable Energy Centre for Excellence, earners have gained insights into the Renewable Energy and Engineering sectors. Focusing on interactive exploration, earners have been introduced to the relationship between PV models and the sun, electric welding techniques, and basic electrical circuits used in the renewable energy sector. Earners have attended an immersion day, delivered in collaboration with Monash Tech School.

Earning Criteria

Introduction to the relationship between PV modules and the sun - Earners have worked in small teams to discover the fundamentals of solar modules and the sun. Earners have participated in PV installation activities by installing solar modules on a roof frame.
Electric welding techniques - Earners have used visual training aids to participate in simulated electrical welding techniques. Earners have been introduced to fundamental engineering and fabrication skills through using measurement and folding equipment to construct a phone holder.
Basic electrical circuits - Earners have worked in small teams to use wiring techniques to connect basic electrical circuits used within the renewable energy sector.
Insights into Renewable Energy and Engineering sectors - Earners have participated in a Q&A panel session with industry professionals from the SEC, Vestas Australian Wind Technology, and Australian Women in Solar Energy. Earners have practised active listening skills and asked thoughtful questions about the Renewable Energy and Engineering sectors.
