They are able to identify acceptable and unacceptable weld profiles. They are aware of how to use carbon-steel filler metal and argon gas. They are able to safely make acceptable open-root V-groove welds with GTAW equipment on carbon steel pipe in the 1G-ROTATED, 2G, 5G and 6G positions.
