The course provides Emergency Management (EM) leaders with skills critical to performing leadership responsibilities such as program oversight, effective communication, research resources, applicable laws, policy considerations, collaboration and strategic thinking. It provides participants with the skills to lead emergency management programs and will be essential to building the foundation for collaboration by bringing EM leaders together to share experiences and establish a network.

Earning Criteria

The methods of assessment include case studies, written papers, performance rubrics (checklists), presentations, and pre/post-tests with a minimum passing score of 75 percent.

The methods of instruction include audio visual materials, case studies, discussion, learner presentations, lecture, and activities. The general course topics include leadership styles, leadership and communications, vision and mission statements, critical thinking, problem solving, creating a short NEMAA paper for emergency management, professional knowledge, case study analysis, and brief-out.
