The methods of assessment include case studies, participation, and an examination with a minimum passing score of 75 percent.

The methods of instruction include audio visuals, case studies, lecture, discussion, learner presentations, practical exercises, and classroom exercise. The general course topics include overview of the planning section and the incident action planning process, overview of the situation unit, display processing expectations review, advanced display processing, expectations review, staffing and organizing, incident situation status reports, and planning meetings and briefings.
