The course objective is to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to develop strategies to manage risk associated with the provision of firefighting, Emergency Management Services (EMS) and special operations services that focus on the reduction of firefighter and emergency services fatalities and injuries. Prerequisites: ICS-100 prerequisite; ICS-200 prerequisite.

Earning Criteria

The methods of assessment include presentations and examinations with a minimum passing score of 70 percent.

The methods of instruction include audio visual materials, case studies, practical exercises, learner presentations, lecture, discussion, classroom exercise, and computer-based training. The general course topics include the firefighter fatality and injury problem; risk management process; safety responsibilities; regulations, standards, and policies; health and wellness; investigations; operational risk management; situation-specific hazards and mitigation strategies; and After-Action review.
