This series was created to support Wake Tech students and faculty's needs based on the community's student profile, the faculty's feedback in previous professional developments, and the college's Reach and Rally plan to improve "equitable access" and "equitable outcomes."

TLS 301: What is Culturally Relevant Pedagogy | This course will define the terms we will use throughout the series, focusing on defining culturally relevant pedagogy. In this course, you will start to audit your class and brainstorm some initial ideas of how you can increase diversity, inclusion, and equity in your courses.

TLS 302: Using Culturally Relevant Pedagogy for Academic Success |The first tenet of culturally relevant pedagogy is academic success. In this course, we will discuss what it means to have high expectations in the classroom and how to have a student-centered classroom to reach these expectations. In this course, you will begin to set goals from the course material for your course.

TLS 303: Using Culturally Relevant Pedagogy for Cultural Competence | The second tenet of culturally relevant pedagogy is encouraging your students' cultures and identities in the classroom. In this course, we will discuss ways to build an online class that can do so. You will be asked to continue to set goals for your course planning that will encourage cultural diversity in the material.

TLS 304: Using Culturally Relevant Pedagogy to make the Course Material Relevant | The third tenet of culturally relevant pedagogy is social consciousness. In this final course, we will discuss ways to help the students connect to the course materials, including authentic assessments and community connection. In this final course, you will set the last goals for your course planning.

TLS 305: Capstone | In the capstone course, you will work individually with the instructional designer to redesign your course to meet the goals you have set during the four courses. The final capstone course is a semester class and will be further discussed as we move through the series.
