The course uses a combination of 9 hours of formative assessment (practical exercises and quizzes) and summative assessments consisting of an end of course scenario / exercise and knowledge check. During the practical part of the course, students must demonstrate the required skills under the supervision of instructors, who answer questions, support and guide, and continuously assess the learning progress.
Standards
The qualified fibre optic technician will be able to: install and maintain indoor and outdoor fibre optical networks; terminate Multi Modal fibre cable; perform MM/SM fusion splices; perform mechanical splices; perform Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing for MM/SM fibre optic infrastructure.
