Caregiver Effective Communication

Earners of the Family Caregiver- Effective Communication learnt about Nonviolent communication techniques that promote effective communication, explored blocks to effective communication and how to avoid them and discuss causes of conflict and ways to resolve conflict. During the workshop, earners emphasized discussion of strategies to apply during the earner's own caregiver situation.

Earning Criteria

Complete a 1 hour theory lecture.

Participate a 1 hour simulation experience in the form of an acted scenario. In simulation, the badge earner practiced providing care and decision-making skills through a real-life situational experience related to the workshop topic.
Standards
Curriculum from the Family Caregiver workshops follow the standards of the accredited HCA program at NorQuest College. Skills are pulled that we expect a Family Caregiver can practice safely. Completion of the course does not contribute to completing a HCA program in Alberta.
