Badge earners have been introduced to the development of Western culture’s characteristics, institutions, and traditions. Earners will have an acute understanding of the problems facing Western nations in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Earners must complete: HIST 1113: Early Western Civilization and HIST 1213: Modern Western Civilization

Earning Criteria

Students should earn 85% or higher in both required courses.

Demonstrate basic knowledge of European history from the origins of civilization to the present.

Identify historical figures, events, and significant trends in Western Civilization.

Demonstrate an understanding of Western history from a political, social, cultural, and economic standpoint.

Explain the cause and effect of historical events that have shaped the nature of Western society.

Explain the beliefs, achievements, customs, and values of different cultures in varying times and places.
