Diverse Learning
Upon completion of workshop, attendees will have awareness of diverse student needs. It is necessary for educators in all career fields to recognize needs of students to support and ultimately improve learning and abilities for all students. The workshop will prepare teachers for strategies to engage, manage, support and teach students with diverse needs. Foundational child development content will also be shared to increase content knowledge and further career potential.

Earning Criteria

Attendees must participate in the full 3 hours of the free Diverse Leaming workshop.

Workshop assessments include a multiple-choice quiz to identify the 7 learning styles as defined by Howard Gardner and identify supportive strategies for autistic learners in the early childhood setting; an open-ended constructed response question to assess development of strategies to engage specific learning styles in a given scenario; and a scavenger hunt to locate resources to support management, lesson development, and student engagement. Students must earn a 75% on each task.

Effective teaching standards will follow Marzano's Strategy for an Effective Teacher. This model will beused to determine the learning objectives and ultimately what makes an effective teacher.
