Microbiology Biochemical Testing Procedures
Students will gain useful skills such as learning how to conduct various biochemical tests on microorganisms such as catalase, oxidase, SIM, citrate, Mannitol Salt Agar, MacConkey Agar, Urease, CAMP, Triple Sugar Iron, Fluid Thioglycolate, and Blood Agar biochemical tests. Several hands-on sessions throughout the semester will give students adequate practice in conducting and interpreting each type of biochemical test.

Students are required to be enrolled in Microbiology (BIOL 2155).

Towards the end of the semester, students will be given an assessment that will test their proficiency in these skills. To earn the Microbiology Biochemical Testing Procedures micro-credential, students must complete this assessment with an 80% or higher.
