Earners of the Service Learning badge have served their community while tying their service to relevant coursework and increased their essential skills including, but not limited to, critical thinking, effective communication, leadership, teamwork, collaboration, professionalism and work ethic. There are two options available to earn this badge.

Earning Criteria

Option 1 - Successfully complete (grade C or better) one of the following courses that includes a service-learning project: SOC 2123 Social Problems, SOC 3033 Marriage and the Family, or MGMT 3033 Conflict Resolution: I’m Always Right!

Option 2 (Requirement 1 of 3): Register for the Service Learning with the badge coordinator for your school or college

Option 2 (Requirement 2 of 3): Service learning project requiring 20 hours of service as approved by the badge coordinator for your school.college followed up with completion of the Service Learning Log.

Option 2 (Requirement 3 of 3): Successful completion (B/80% or better as scored by the Service Learning Rubric) of a 1500 word paper detailing your Service Learning experience to include deep reflection as prescribed in the Service Learning Instructions.
