Trauma-Informed Teaching

Upon completion of the workshop, the attendee will have information on teaching students impacted by trauma which can be directly applied in the classroom to support classroom instruction and management. The attendees will learn the types of trauma and how trauma can physically affect the child's ability to learn. Attendees will learn which strategies and approaches will most positively support students with trauma.

Earning Criteria

Attendees will be asked to respond to a real-world scenario addressing teaching students who experienced trauma. The prompt will require attendees to identify 6 types of poverty, all connected to types of trauma. Attendees will reflect on how trauma can impact learning in students by responding to the scenario and select appropriate strategies/approaches which have been proven to be effective. The attendees will have 2 weeks to complete the assessment, earning a 80% or higher completion score.
