The earner of this badge demonstrated the ability to evaluate documents and evidence requests, and productions. They are able to not only understand rules of evidence and document management techniques to meet their technical competence and ethical mandate but also how discovery and evidence plays a larger role in the court process.

Earning Criteria

Pass three month Air Force Paralegal Apprentice Course or equivalent; Must complete three years of on the job training in any Legal Office; and Must have earned the Specialist Badge or worked at a minimum of 10 discovery requests.

Provide an essay explaining at least ten summaries of discovery responses and/or discovery requests, list the type of offense(s), discuss outside agency coordination (if applicable), provide a description of the type of evidence used, what information was solicited to fulfill the response/request, and provide a description of the discovery or evidence tracking tool utilized.; and

Provide an essay explaining how you would receive, distribute, and protect discovery from an outside agency, i.e. USACIL.; and

Provide an essay explaining on the benefits of different eDiscovery platforms or electronic discovery software programs such as CaseMap, TimeMap, TextMap, Concordance, iCONECT, VenioOne, Everlaw, DISCO, Cloudnine review, and/or Sanction.
