Earners have participated in a full day, highly interactive workshop and have demonstrated a full understanding of Spatial Reasoning and how to develop it in young students. They have shown that they are able to assess young children’s geometry and spatial reasoning abilities and have developed strategies that create engaging learning environments that move beyond play. Earners understand the positioning of geometry and spatial reasoning in the broader math curriculum

Earning Criteria

Participants must be either actively involved in K-2 Math classroom teaching/coaching or are responsible for supervising K-2 Mathematics teachers.

Attend full day workshop and complete all associated activities, assignments and exercises.

Demonstrate a full understanding of five key strands related to geometry and spatial reasoning: Symmetry Composing, Decomposing, and Transforming Two-Dimensional Shapes Composing, Decomposing, and Transforming Three-Dimensional Objects Locating, Orienting, Mapping, and Coding Perspective Taking

Demonstrate proficiency in assessing students' geometry and spatial reasoning abilities and adapting classroom practices to meet their learning needs.

Demonstrate the ability to use the course's professional learning to create engaging learning environments in their classrooms.
