What to Look For Facilitation Course

Earners have demonstrated the ability to recognize and assess students' level of understanding and proficiency in Early Numeracy. They have developed a Continuum of Strategies and know how to place learners on that continuum. They have demonstrated the ability to use facilitation strategies to support educator learning. Earners are equipped with the tools needed to lead learning in mathematics in their schools/districts and to use the Facilitator’s Guide to its full extent.

Earning Criteria

Complete two-day Professional Learning seminar covering both research in Early Numeracy and hands-on practice in facilitating mathematics learning.

Analyze student videos to learn to recognize and assess the many mathematical strategies children use. Develop a Continuum of Early Numeracy Learning Strategies and learn how to place students on that continuum.

Learn facilitation strategies that support educator learning in mathematics. Participate and apply facilitation strategies in highly interactive exercises and activities.

Develop a stronger understanding of how young children learn to add and subtract. Experience facilitation moves that support deep educator learning and effective implementation. Reflect on learning environments that engage and extend educators’ and students’ mathematical thinking.
