The test taker at this level has a limited range of vocabulary and understood questions/answers. They can recognise simple greetings and use some basic words to show politeness. They can only participate in basic interactions using fixed expressions. They can recognise familiar names, words and basic phrases on simple notices. They can read out phone numbers and spell out their name and nationality. They can copy short sentences containing familiar words if presented in standard printed form.

Earning Criteria

Completion of an English language proficiency test. The test assesses Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking in approximately 60 minutes with a focus on English used in academic and workplace contexts. The test is administered online under secure conditions with voice and identity verified throughout the test.
Standards
Based on research from more than 50 countries, The GSE extends the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) by pinpointing on a scale from 10 to 90 what has been mastered for the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
