The test taker at this level can understand some frequent everyday words and sentences. They can generally recognise familiar words in short phrases and sentences spoken slowly and clearly. They can say a range of basic numbers, quantities and prices, and ask and answer simple questions about personal details. They can recognise most words related to familiar topics in a classroom context or in simple signs. They can generally copy some familiar words, but they struggle to produce a sentence.

Earning Criteria

Completion of an English language proficiency test. The test assesses Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking in approximately 60 minutes with a focus on English used in academic and workplace contexts. The test is administered online under secure conditions with voice and identity verified throughout the test.
Standards
Based on research from more than 50 countries, The GSE extends the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) by pinpointing on a scale from 10 to 90 what has been mastered for the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
