The test taker at this level has a limited range of words, very basic structures and phrases related to personal details or very familiar topics. They understand basic information if delivered slowly and clearly. They can give key personal information or answer some simple questions. They can generally understand basic phrases and simple sentences describing everyday objects if supported by pictures. They can write a few simple sentences about themselves or things they or other people have/do.

Earning Criteria

Completion of an English language proficiency test. The test assesses Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking in approximately 60 minutes with a focus on English used in academic and workplace contexts. The test is administered online under secure conditions with voice and identity verified throughout the test.
Standards
Based on research from more than 50 countries, The GSE extends the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) by pinpointing on a scale from 10 to 90 what has been mastered for the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
