The test taker at this level can understand short basic statements about objects, people and places supported by pictures in a simple text or if spoken slowly and clearly. They can ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics. They can write a few basic sentences about things they or other people have or introduce themselves (e.g. name, age and where they are from), given a model.

Earning Criteria

Completion of an English language proficiency test. The test assesses Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking in approximately 60 minutes with a focus on English used in academic and workplace contexts. The test is administered online under secure conditions with voice and identity verified throughout the test.
Standards
Based on research from more than 50 countries, The GSE extends the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) by pinpointing on a scale from 10 to 90 what has been mastered for the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
