The test taker at this level can use a range of words, structures and phrases for familiar and everyday forms of writing. They can read a simple text and extract factual details. They can understand short, basic descriptions of familiar topics if delivered slowly and clearly. They can communicate in routine tasks requiring simple exchanges of information. They can write a simple text containing key information or short descriptions of people and objects using basic connectors, given a model.

Earning Criteria

Completion of an English language proficiency test. The test assesses Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking in approximately 60 minutes with a focus on English used in academic and workplace contexts. The test is administered online under secure conditions with voice and identity verified throughout the test.
Standards
Based on research from more than 50 countries, The GSE extends the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) by pinpointing on a scale from 10 to 90 what has been mastered for the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
