The test taker at this level has an appropriate range of words, structures, some basic collocations and functional language for familiar topics. They can scan a simple text identifying the main topic(s). They can understand enough to manage simple routine exchanges. They can communicate using simple connected clauses and functional language and can participate in exchanges on familiar topics. They can write short narratives, descriptions, emails or letters.

Earning Criteria

Completion of an English language proficiency test. The test assesses Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking in approximately 60 minutes with a focus on English used in academic and workplace contexts. The test is administered online under secure conditions with voice and identity verified throughout the test.
Standards
Based on research from more than 50 countries, The GSE extends the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) by pinpointing on a scale from 10 to 90 what has been mastered for the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
